It's a cloudy, cold Sunday here in Winnipeg, so I thought I'd share a bit of music that is reflective of the grim weather.
A few years ago I stumbled across a song that sent my heart reeling. The woman's voice was provocative and powerful and I just needed to know who she was. I dug around, asked some friends and finally learned her name - Duffy. I may have mentioned once - or twice - that I have a strong connection to Britain. It wasn't surprising to learn that Duffy hails from Wales - a part of Britain that I actually have roots in.
Her voice just spoke to me at a time when life was fairly difficult. She was singing on my behalf - or at least it felt that way. She has an old world feel that pulls me in unlike anything else. I typically don't find myself attracted to her genre of music, but sometimes you just have to trust your instincts.
This song is powerful, sad and easily one of my favourites. Enjoy!
Warwick Avenue by Duffy
Her tears always break my heart. *sigh*
